- Materials and Structures Tests Official Laboratory
DICAr is equipped with one of the largest Italian university experimental laboratories, where the behavior of structures up to 36 meters wide and 7 meters high can be studied. Together with adjacent EUCentre's laboratory with which there is close cooperation, this laboratory is one of the main european experimental poles in the field of seismic engineering. Beside laboratory experimentation, the DICAr's Structures and Materials section is also active in in situ experiments, monitoring and testing of existing structures such as bridges, towers, buildings and other types of civil and industrial structures.
Experimental tests on traditional and innovative construction materials are carried out, as well as static and dynamic tests on steel, reinforced concrete, precast concrete and masonry structures and structural elements, load tests on external structures, with deformation status measurement, detection of the evolution of the deformation frame over time, structural diagnosis, consolidation techniques.
In the mechanical field it is possible to conduct experimental tests on machinery and mechanical components with measurements by accelerometers, laser sensors, load cells, encoders, etc. Hardness tests can also be made through a microdurometer.
